Join the Daily Bible Challenge!

Three easy steps to participate:

1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.

2. Read the daily reading.

3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

Jesus Could Not Do Miracles There

The account of another visit of Jesus to his hometown of Nazareth ends with, "He could not any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith." The commentaries say that it wasn't that Jesus couldn't do miracles, but he chose to refrain from doing them where there was unbelief. The parallel passage in Matthew actually says this: "And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith."
