Blemished Priests Not to Serve

In Lev 21:16-24, the LORD lists multiple disabilities which would disqualify someone from serving in the priesthood. At first, this seemed unfair, almost discriminatory to me. But my wife, Kathleen reminded me of how God was pointing his people toward the perfect High Priest, Jesus. Furthermore, all of the references to the sacrifices without defect or blemish pointed to Jesus being the perfect sacrifice. It's amazing how Jesus is the perfect sacrifice and the perfect High Priest at the same time. Equally amazing is how on the last day he will both defense attorney and judge. This reminds me that Jesus is everything I need.
