Join the Daily Bible Challenge!

Three easy steps to participate:

1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.

2. Read the daily reading.

3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

The Fat Tail

Leviticus 3:9 talks about fatty parts of a lamb that are to be included in the sacrifice, including the "fat tail." What's that? Apparently a breed of sheep still common in the Middle East has a tail heavy with fat. Check out this summary at Wikipedia.

  1. As I read this section, it struck me more than once that the amount of detail that they needed to remember/guidelines they needed to follow is a bit mind-boggling!

  2. Yeah, you try to put yourself in their shoes to remember what all has to be done--and sacrifice piles up on sacrifice, each done a certain way with certain ingredients. Then you have to be aware of your sins--everything you did wrong or didn't do right... Maybe God was setting them up to fail, so to speak, to show their need for a Savior? But meanwhile you could end up with some good-hearted people having breakdowns...
