Join the Daily Bible Challenge!
Three easy steps to participate:
1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.
2. Read the daily reading.
3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

Obadiah
The 29 pages of the People's Bible dedicated to Obadiah appear to be an interesting read all about the history of the Edomites and how Obadiah's words were fulfilled. You may have heard of Petra and seen the picture of the structure carved into the cliff side. This was within the territory of Edom, but Petra was built by the Nabataeans who captured the land from the Edomites and forced them out into Judean territory. The Jews struggled with the Edomites for years until the time of the Romans. They joined the Jews in the revolt against Rome in 70 A.D. and when Rome destroyed Jerusalem they pretty much destroyed the Edomites (in Greek "Idumeans") as well. Any who survived were pretty much absorbed by the surrounding tribes.
