Three easy steps to participate:
1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.
2. Read the daily reading.
3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

Severe Law and Gospel
Often today you hear of erring Christian church bodies downplaying sin and hell with the excuse that God is a God of love, hospitality, peace--therefore, they say, we should not condemn those living in disobedience to God's Word. I often wonder if they have bothered to crack their Bibles lately. Amos 9:1-10 is one of the many sections of the Bible showing God's severe hate for and punishment of sin and those who reject his grace. At the same time he offers "severe," undeserved grace to those who are repentant and trust in him for forgiveness. See Amos 9:11-15. If we don't believe in God's wrath against sin why would we care about his grace for us sinners? It's a big mistake to downplay the severity of God.
