In today's reading God challenges people and their false gods to a showdown. "Declare what is to be, present it . . . Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me" (45:20). And he says in 46:10, "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come." Also see 48:1-7.
Do we need further proof that our God is GOD? Who else can know the future like he does? What he has foretold has always come to pass. This is the incredible thing about reading the books of the prophets. It is verification for us that his Word is truth, and it means that what he has predicted for our future (the end times, judgment day, heaven) will come true for us as well.
