Last Day, Judgment Against Moab

Once again I looked up a couple of the more confusing sections from today's reading from Isaiah:
  • Isaiah 34:1-4 is referencing the final judgment of the last day. Compare verse 4 to Matthew 24:29 and Revelation 6:13-14.
  • Isaiah 16:1-5 is a back and forth between God/his prophet and Moab. In 1-2 the Moabites are told to submit to Judah and, by doing so, show their repentance and return to the Lord. In 3-4 the Moabites reply disregarding what was just said. In verse 5, then, the prophet advises Moab "to cling to the wonderful promises of God for deliverance" (People's Bible).
