The Compilation of the Bible

Today's reading shows us another example of how the Bible was written down for us--God was behind things (see also Exodus 34:27, Deuteronomy 31:19, and Habakkuk 2:2). As the People's Bible says, "God here gives us a firsthand account of how at least one of the books of the Bible was written. He does that so we might be sure that what we have in the Bible is his very own words. For 'above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit' (2 Peter 1:20-21)."
