Join the Daily Bible Challenge!

Three easy steps to participate:

1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.

2. Read the daily reading.

3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

Faith Often Follows Blindly

Oftentimes we hear about Christians who, at difficult points in their lives or faith walks, basically say, "Here is where I am going to exit. I just can't see how God would [fill in the blank]." Maybe it's God's judgment, hell; maybe it's his demand for obedience in the face of temptation; maybe it's serving in the role in which God has put us; maybe it's "bearing our cross"--struggling through the challenges of life; maybe it's believing and obeying even when our minds don't necessarily understand.

Abraham is highlighted in the Bible as a great example of blind faith (see Romans 4:18-25). He certainly could have stopped in his tracks when God asked him to sacrifice his only son Isaac and self-righteously declared, "Sorry, God, you have gone too far this time."

But faith is trusting, sometimes blindly as far as we can see by ourselves, that our Creator is truly a God of grace like he says, that he has redeemed us, and that he always has our good in mind (Romans 8:28). As Jesus taught, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" (John 20:29).
