The account of Esau's descendants in Genesis 36 shows how God's prophecy to Isaac and Rebekah was fulfilled (Genesis 25:23); Esau, like Jacob, would become a nation. We'll see these nations repeatedly interact in the centuries to follow.
I found an interesting side note regarding this section in the Concordia Self-Study Bible. Job probably lived in Edom. This is based on names in this account that match names in the book of Job, such as Uz (Job 1:1, Genesis 36:28), Eliphaz, and Teman (Job 2:11, Genesis 36:11, 34).
