Join the Daily Bible Challenge!

Three easy steps to participate:

1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.

2. Read the daily reading.

3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

Symbolism

There is symbolism behind all of the designs and actions God has set in place with the tabernacle, etc., so I picked a couple that made me stop and wonder and checked about their meanings:
  • Exodus 29:19-20 about Aaron and his sons putting the blood on their right ears, thumbs, and toes. The People's Bible says: "With the ear the priest was to hear the word of the Lord; with the hand he was to perform his tasks properly; with the foot he was to walk correctly in the sanctuary. These items of the priest's body, therefore, were especially sanctified for service to the Lord."
  • Oil was a symbol of the Spirit of God. This is handy to remember when Scripture talks about people being anointed to serve God in certain ways.
