The Amazing View
When God shows Moses the Promised Land before taking him to heaven (Deuteronomy 34:1-4), it's more of a gift for Moses than you might catch on at first reading. The People's Bible explains: "If Moses stood on Pisgah, his view to the north and the west was superb, although from there one can't see farther north than Mount Gilboa, farther east than the Gilead highlands, or farther west than the Judean foothills. To see as far north as Dan or as far west as the Mediterranean would have required a supernatural gift from the Lord. By inviting Moses to view the extent of the land, the Lord showed one last act of kindness to this special leader of his people."
