Join the Daily Bible Challenge!

Three easy steps to participate:

1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.

2. Read the daily reading.

3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

Hearts Turned to Hate

Psalm 105:24-25 is another example along the lines of "God sent an evil spirit between Abimilech and the citizen of Shechem" or "an evil spirit from the Lord tormented Saul." It says of the Egyptians, "The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes, whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants."

Again, like in these past cases, it is the people (in this case the Egyptians) who are at fault first and then God uses their evil, their hate, to do his will. The Kretzmann commentary says, "Since they deliberately plotted meanness, the Lord held them to their wicked plans, in order thereby to bring about their own destruction."
