Join the Daily Bible Challenge!

Three easy steps to participate:

1. Purchase The Daily Bible. The best price is online, but it is also available at local Christian bookstores. I recommend hardcover.

2. Read the daily reading.

3. Optional: Return to this site to discuss the readings (consider bookmarking this site so you can easily find it each day).

Solomon's Dedication Prayer

I always enjoy the following portion of Solomon's prayer (2 Chronicles 6:32-33): "As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm--when he comes and prays toward this temple, then hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the people of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name."

I think this shows a few things:
  • Even as God was primarily working with and through the Israelites, his grace was not limited to them.
  • There was an outreach mindset among the Israelites.
  • There were non-Jews that joined Israel because of God, to be part of his Old Testament "Church."
